Climbing Courses

  • We're excited to announce our "Gym to Crag" course, designed for climbers looking to transition their skills from the climbing gym to outdoor bluffs! This one-day course will teach you everything you need to confidently and safely top-rope outdoors.

    Important Note: You must have passed a belay test from your local climbing gym to participate.

    This course is perfect for gym climbers or anyone who has learned from friends and wants to ensure they have the correct and safe knowledge for outdoor top-roping.

    Here are the details:

    Location: Comox Lake Climbing Area

    Cost: $200

    Length: One day

    Available Dates: Check Events On Home Page

    Timing: 9am to 5pm Roughly

    Minimum Students 2 Required

    Learn the following skills:

    ·         The autotomy of building safe anchors and climbing gear

    ·         Care of gear and climbing ethics

    ·         Climbing knots

    ·         Anchor Building on trees and bolts

    ·         How to rappel yourself

    ·         How approach challenging anchors

    ·         How clean anchors for top-rope settings.

    ·         What need do need for outside

    ·         Personal safety at the edge

    Included in the Course:

    Group climbing gear (ropes, carabiners, anchor building materials)

    You can also rent a personal gear package (helmet, harness, belay device) from PRAS for $20 for the course if needed.

  • This course is designed for anyone interested in mastering rappelling techniques. Whether you're looking to enjoy the thrill of rappelling or need to understand how to clean an anchor after climbing in top-rope situations, this course is for you.

    Here's what you'll learn:

    ·         How to set yourself up for rappelling

    ·         Different friction hitches and knots related to rappelling

    ·         How to use rappel bolts

    ·         How to use trees in relation to rappelling

    Location: Camp Bob

    Cost: $110

    Length: 3-4 hours

    Minimum Students 2 Required

    What's not included: Personal climbing gear (helmet, climbing shoes, climbing harness, and belay device).

  • Course: Paddle Canada Intermediate Tandem Lake Water

    Price: $250

    Location: Camp Bob

    Dates: May 23 to 24

    Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

    Description: Master tandem canoeing, group management, and efficient rescues. This is the minimum certification level required to take students on the water.

OCC Courses

  • Course: OCC Field Leader Paddle/Hike Course

    Price: $295

    Location: Camp Bob

    Dates: April 7 and 11

    Description: This two-day course begins with a two-hour canoe session to ensure proficiency, followed by classroom sessions and a full day of practical leadership experience on both water and hiking trails.

    Other Info: We will be running OCC Field Leader Courses in late September or October. Also we are happy to bring the course to your local area!

  • Course: OCC Overnight Course

    Price: $450

    Location: TBD

    Dates: June 13–14

    Description: Learn to lead students on multi-day trips. Topics include lightweight packing, menu and route planning, and gear management for hiking and overnight stays.
